Vorbereitung

Planung ist ja bekanntlich alles… Zu einer mehrmonatigen Reise gehört natürlich auch eine gewisse Vorbereitung. Es müssen diverse Behördengänge getätigt werden, Equipment gekauft und gesundheitliche Maßnahmen (Impfen/Checks) getroffen werden. Macht nicht wirklich viel Spaß, muss aber sein. Zu den Vorbereitungen gehört natürlich auch die ungefähre Planung der Reiseroute. Dieser Teil bereitet mir persönlich fast genauso viel Spaß wie die eigentlich Reise.

Krankenkasse über die Abwesenheit in Kenntnis setzen

Die aktuelle Krankenkasse sollte natürlich in Kenntnis darüber gesetzt werden, dass man einen mehrmonatigen Auslandsaufenthalt plant, damit keine unnötigen Kosten entstehen. Bei meiner Krankenkasse reichte dafür eine simple E-Mail als Inkenntnissetzung. Es sollte aber auf jeden Fall eine Auslandsreiseversicherung abgeschlossen werden.

Reisepass verlängern (Neubeantragung)

Für die Einreise in bestimme Länder muss der Reisepass noch mindestens 6 Monate gültig sein. Daher sollte man sich frühzeitig um eine Verlängerung/Neubeantragung kümmern. Es wäre doch zu schade, ein Land wegen eines nicht ausreichend gültigen Reisepasses nicht bereisen zu können. Kostenpunkt ab dem 24. Lebensjahr: 59€ (Bis zum 24. Lebensjahr 37,50€)

Impfen

Vor der Reise sollte man sich bei einem auf Reisen spezialisierten Arzt über notwendige Schutzimpfungen informieren. Diesen Punkt darf man besonders bei der Kostenkalkulation nicht unterschätzen. Für ein paar Impfungen kommen schnell mehrere hundert Euro zusammen, die oftmals nur geringfügig von der Krankenkasse übernommen werden.

Am besten schon mehrere Monate vor der Reise anfangen sich impfen zu lassen. Alleine die Tollwutimpfung nimmt drei Sitzungen in Anspruch…

Jahresabo für die Nutzung öffentlicher Verkehrsmittel kündigen

Als Hamburger bin ich natürlich Mitglied im HVV. Jahreskarten können problemlos zum Ende des Monats gekündigt werden.

Tipp für Hamburger: Die switchh-Filliale am Berliner Tor verwaltet ebenfalls HVV-Kunden und ist nur wenig besucht.

Sonstige Mitgliedschaften kündigen

Egal ob Sportverein, Fitnessstudio oder Yoga-Gruppe. Vor der Reise sollten all diese Verträge gekündigt oder zumindest für die Dauer der Abwesenheit auf Eis gelegt werden. Alles andere wäre Geldverschwendung.

Auslandsversicherung abschließen

Es gibt verschiedene Arten von Reiseversicherungen: Die „normale“ und die „Langzeitreiseversicherung. Die „normale“ ist in der Regel nur 30-45 Tage gültig und kostet oftmals nicht mehr als 10 Euro.
Anders sieht es bei der Langzeitreiseversicherung aus: Hier wird auf den Tag genau kalkuliert, wie lange die Reise dauern wird und der entsprechende Betrag an die Versicherung gezahlt.
Viele Versicherungen bieten die Möglichkeit an, bei vorzeitiger Rückreise den Differenzbetrag auszuzahlen bzw. die Möglichkeit auch während der Reise noch den Versicherungsschutz zu verlängern.

Tipp: Es gibt die Möglichkeit, beide Varianten zu kombinieren. Das bedeutet, du zahlst für die ersten 30-45 Tage nur den geringen Betrag und erst anschließend die Langzeitreiseversicherung.

Visa beantragen

Für die Einreise in bestimmte Länder (z.B. China oder Vietnam) benötigt man vor der Reise ein Visum. Da sich mit dem Thema schon diverse Seiten im Netz ausführlich beschäftigen, gebe ich euch doch direkt ein paar Links.

Untermieter suchen

Gerade in den beliebten Großstädten, sollte es relativ leicht sein, einen passenden Untermieter für die Reisezeit zu finden. Die Miete für ein Wohnung für mehrere Monate selber zu zahlen wäre herausgeschmissenes Geld. Auf http://www.wg-gesucht.de sollte man schnell fündig werden.

Kreditkartenupgrade

Jeder, der schon einmal im Ausland war kennt das Problem der Geldbeschaffung. Nehme ich die normale Bankkarte? Nehme ich die Kreditkarte? Ich persönlich habe mich für ein Kreditkarten-Upgrade entschieden, welches mir ein gebührenloses Geldabheben weltweit ermöglicht.
